Who am I?

Perhaps a few of you may want to know who you are hearing from on this blog; my name is Grace Ellis. I am 18 years old and currently in my senior year of high school. I am on track to enter into UNL's secondary education program in the fall of 2018. My passion for teaching and language have lead me towards this project.
Sign language has been one of my favorite languages for the longest time, just as other languages in general have always interested me. This interest made me ask the question as to how the teacher-student relationship is affected when a student or teacher must go through an interpreter to get the simplest sentence across to the other. I believe that if a teacher shows the effort to learn a child's language not only can the relationship be improved but a child's interest in school itself could potentially improve. I hope that with this project not only will I be furthering my own education for the future, but also influencing teachers and perhaps students to expand their own learning in this beautiful language.
