Why? UPDATED

Hello everyone! It's been quite some time since I last posted, but part of that is because I have some big news!
If you saw my original post describing why I started this blog in the first place, you know it was partially for a project for my advanced speech class. However, "Break the Barrier" has sort of changed purpose. The same mission is still in place, but this blog is now in use for a STAR project as well. For those of you who might be unfamiliar with STAR it's an acronym that stands for students taking action with recognition. STAR is the competition side of FCCLA (Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America).
Another big piece of news! I am not alone any more! Joining me in the running of this blog is my STAR project partner Trent Brown. Trent shares the same passion for sign language as I do and has been a big part in this journey to making our schools as inclusive, welcoming, and forward moving as possible.
Again, the same mission statement still backs this blog. We still plan on teaching signs (maybe a bit more frequently) as well as pushing the importance of introducing this language to teachers and schools. Even beyond increasing the relationship between teachers and deaf/hard of hearing students, we hope to present teachers with the opportunity to expand themselves and learn of a culture and world beyond their own.
