Why?

Why? It's a pretty big question, isn't it? Let's get more specific. Why this blog? Why now? Why is it important? To get the basic "I have too," out of the way I'll say this now. This blog is a project for my advanced speech class, it's purpose is to help me document my attempt as persuading educators to see the importance of learning even simple sign language when having a deaf / hearing impaired student. My hope is that, by making some of this information more readily available, more teachers will see the impact they can have on a whole population of students that can currently feel so very isolated.
However, going beyond the requirement to do this page, sign language and the education of teachers regarding the use of said language is something that I have been very passionate about for quite sometime. Only recently though, I was presented with different opportunities to pursue this passion, this blog and project being one of them.
